Hi Everyone and Happy Monday!
The Summer Term always feels a bit odd at first. For me, it involves a mix of very short weeks at various institutions, all while trying to set up enough work and excitement for the summer months. This often leaves me feeling a little out of sync.
It’s as if I’m trying to get back into the swing of things, but I’m also aware that by the time I do, I’ll need to switch to another routine. Recently, I’ve been asking myself: how can I make this easier? How can I make this more enjoyable?
To answer that, I need to cultivate a sense of what “play” means for me. Many things bring me joy, especially:
- Movement
- Exploring new places
- Creating new things
So, how can I integrate more of this into my work?
Firstly, I plan to start each class with a physical game or warm-up to get the energy flowing right from the beginning.
Additionally, I might explore new places to work when handling admin tasks, or even change my usual spots in the classroom to break the routine.
Lastly, I want to continue creating and enhancing my practice. I’m excited to share that I’ll be leading a few workshops at a conference this September, so I aim to incorporate that work into my sessions as much as possible.
If, like me, you find yourself in a bit of a funk, ask yourself: how can you make it easier? More playful?
Remember, simple changes add up!
Have a great week,
M x
