Hello Everyone and Happy Monday,
I hope this message finds you well as we step into a new academic year. September always feels like a fresh start, doesn’t it? A time of transition, new possibilities, and perhaps a bit of nervous excitement.
As I begin my lecturing schedule, I’ve been reflecting on how I want to approach this year—how I can be fully present without burning out, and how I can best support my students without becoming their everything. This year, I’m focusing on what I like to call "the backwards circle"—an approach that allows me to keep my energy reserved yet open. It’s about remembering that I am here as a facilitator, not a savior. I want to guide my students, but I also want them to prioritize their own learning and growth.
This doesn’t mean we won’t have fun. Quite the opposite! I’m committed to creating a space where we can work hard, but also laugh, enjoy, and find joy in the process. Because at the end of the day, joy is what keeps us moving forward, even when things get tough.
What does this mean in practice?
- Prioritizing Work: We will focus on what’s most important, tackling challenges head-on but without the pressure of trying to be perfect.
- Empowering Students: I’ll be here to guide you, but I want you to feel empowered to explore, question, and take ownership of your journey.
- Finding Joy: Yes, we’ll work hard, but we’ll also make time to celebrate small wins, enjoy the process, and have some fun along the way.
I’m excited for what’s ahead and to see how we can all grow together this year. Let’s make this not only a year of learning but a year of balance, connection, and joy.
Wishing you a wonderful start to your school year filled with energy, fun, and fulfillment.
