Hi All and Happy Monday,
I've been relishing a rare moment of peace after my recent weekend escape to Harrogate and like many people around me, I didn’t quite know how needed this weekend was for my nervous system!
I live in very central, busy London. So when I was in the car at the weekend, in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales, it truly felt like another planet. I could feel the difference in water quality, air quality and the overall humidity. It was like a breath of fresh life. It felt invigorating.
When surrounded by the greenery, I couldn't help but feel a sense of peace and tranquillity wash over me. I didn’t quite realise just how surrounded I am by construction, cars, traffic and business where I am here until I compared it to the refreshed feeling of just looking out at natural things!
Getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life was exactly what I needed. It allowed me to slow down, to appreciate the beauty of my surroundings, and to reconnect with myself in a way that's often hard to do amidst the chaos of everyday life.
And you know what?
There's actually some solid science behind the benefits of spending time in nature.
Research has shown that it can help reduce stress, anxiety, and even symptoms of depression. Plus, it boosts cognitive function and creativity.
So, as I try to put my Harrogate experience into words, I'm reminded of the importance of taking time to appreciate the simple things in life and allowing ourselves to be fully present in the moment.
Here’s to keeping myself accountable and for taking more time to stroll in the countryside.
