Hi everyone and happy Monday,
Yes, I know—we’re well into January, and this is only just landing in your inbox. But honestly, that feels pretty symbolic of my goals this year. I’m stepping into 2025 with the intention to be sincere, not serious.
In the past, I’ve fallen into the trap of overthinking, pushing too hard, and rushing to keep up. But this year, I’m craving a slower, more efficient pace. One that allows me to breathe, think, and move with purpose. It’s already shaping up to be a big year—I’m moving house, which will take a lot of energy (both physical and mental), so I’m mindful about where I’m directing my focus.
Here are a few goals guiding me this year:
1. Be Sincere, Not Serious
This means showing up fully, being present, and letting go of the pressure to be perfect. I want to approach work, relationships, and creativity with authenticity, not rigidity.
2. Move Slowly, but Efficiently
I’m leaning into a slower pace—not in a lazy way, but in a thoughtful, intentional way. I want to prioritize rest and still get things done, allowing space for more meaningful work and less burnout.
3. Lead with Intention
This one’s big for me. I have a habit of throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks (which sometimes works, but also leaves a mess). This year, I want every action to be intentional. Whether it’s launching something new, saying yes to opportunities, or even how I spend my downtime—I want it to come from a place of purpose.
4. Protect My Energy
With a house move and a full calendar ahead, I know I need to be mindful of my energy. I’m learning to say no without guilt and yes without overcommitting. Slowing down doesn’t mean doing less; it means doing what matters most.
What Does This Have to Do with Voice and Communication?
You might be thinking, “Okay, Molly, but what does this have to do with voice coaching?” Well—everything.
Voice and communication are deeply tied to how we move through the world. When we’re rushing, overcommitting, or acting without intention, it shows up in how we speak. Our breath gets shallow, our voices tighten, and our communication loses clarity.
Slowing down and leading with intention gives our voice space to breathe. It allows us to speak with more grounding, more clarity, and more impact. Whether you're preparing for a presentation, stepping into a role, or simply wanting to feel more confident in how you express yourself, the principles of being sincere, not serious and moving with purpose are at the core of powerful communication.
This year, I’m inviting you to think about how intention shows up in your own voice. Are you rushing to fill space? Are you speaking out of habit rather than choice? Or are you allowing yourself to pause, breathe, and speak with meaning?
Let’s make 2025 the year of intentional, grounded, and authentic communication.
